  1. Auntie A’s Fall Scones

I love serving scones both at breakfast with fruits and cheeses and fresh pressed juices but they are equally welcome when paired with tomato basil soup or a hearty salad. Here’s my recipe for Pecan Cheddar Scones…

2 cups all purpose flour
1 tablespoon of sugar
1 tablespoon of thyme
1 tablespoon of baking powder
2 teaspoons of kosher salt
A handful of black pepper
6 tablespoons of butter
2 cups of grated sharp cheddar cheese 1 cup of white cheddar cheese
1/2 cup chopped and toasted pecans 1 cup of heavy cream and one dollop 1 egg

Turn oven onto 425… spray a round pan (8”)
Line a baking sheet with parchment
In the food processor… mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and pepper… add butter until crumbly
Move dough to larger bowl and add to the dough cheese and pecans and one cup of cream..
Press the dough into the round pan and score like a pie…
Lift out the wedges and place on the baking sheet
Whisk the egg and a dollop of cream and brush the mixture over the scones Bake for 12-15 mins
